Native Awareness Days

Hi Everyone! The Native Awareness Days have been confirmed for the following dates. Grades K-6 May 19, 2010 and Grades 7-12 June 16, 2010. This year’s theme is “Togetherness” (Mamawipayiwin). Some of our highlights are learning the skills of Native games. The handgame and other games will be learned. Our P.E. Teacher Mr. Peters will be fascilitating the games. Mr. Peters had an opportunity to attend a workshop on learning these skills. Mr. Peter’s says, “ the whole experience was enlightening”. Other acgtivities include: Enjoying bannock, literacy based stories and crafts. We will also enjoy a mini round dance and a Pow-wow dance performance by the Kipohtakaw dancers from the Alexander Reserve School. The week will be an enrichment with Cultural infusion for all grades. Any suggestions or anyone who wants to help with the festivities, Please contact me at the School.
