Year-of-the-preist Potluck a Success

12 May

On Sunday, April 25th, St. Mary of the Lake School along with the C.W.L. and the Knights of Columbus hosted a potluck dinner for the “Year of the Priest” honouring Father Jeyapaul. Attendance was high and consisted of St. Peter Celestin Catholic Church parishioners, St. Mary’s students, teachers, staff, and their families.

The meal was preceded by a presentation outlining Father Jeyapaul’s biography and career. Father was then presented with a cheque that covers the round trip flight expenses to his native India which he’s going to visit for a summer vacation this year.

Father was also presented with two scrapbooks created by the school’s staff and church parishioners.

Afterward, the crowd dug into the abundance of potluck dishes. The event included a 50-50 raffle and baskets for raffle. The proceeds of the raffles will go to support Sister Maureen’s efforts in Haiti.

The dinner was a pleasant way to say thank you to Father Jeyapaul for all he does for the school and Catholic community of Slave Lake.
